Doc Heide

Doc HeideCo-Founder/Artistic Advisor/Playwright/Performer

Doc first appeared on the Peninsula Park stage in 1973 as a member of the University of Wisconsin’s Heritage Ensemble (AFT’s predecessor troupe) and has performed here virtually every summer since. A co-founder of AFT, he’s written or co-written 20 shows, including Guys & Does (with Lee Becker and Paul Libman) and both Packer Fans from Outer Space and Belgians in Heaven (with Lee Becker and James Kaplan). This spring Doc and Lee finished a first draft of the prequel to the latter show, tentatively titled Belgians Go Bowling, wherein we discover which came first, Mildred the Chicken or the egg. Doc is an award-winning associate professor at the California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant International University in San Francisco, teaches at the Medical College of Wisconsin, and is associate editor of the APA journal PsycCRITIQUES. He’s won awards for his research and has published many dense articles in scientific journals with imposing titles. In his spare time he loves to ski and watch movies with his darling wife Jody. Doc dedicates his work on Packer Fans to his Dad, who at age 93 still watches the Pack and any other football team that his TV can pull in.
